I'm late posting to the blog. Shame on me!! Yesterday was a very long day, up at 4:30 a.m. to catch our flights. First flight was a napping kind of flight. Had a 1.5 hour lay over in MN, grabbed a meal at TGI Friday's. I'm not a TGI Friday person but was quite impressed with their breakfast (BLT sandwich of which I could only eat half it was that generous - the other half was a snack on the next flight from MN to MT and was just as good as the first half).
Second flight we had a screaming baby sitting right behind us. But like I said on FB, it could have been worse, it could have been a sick, screaming baby. Arrived MT and got the rental car. We ended up with a Subaru Outback, AWD, leather interior and more bells and whistles than I know what to do with! I have to say I'm quite impressed with this car! I thought I wanted a sports car for my next car, but Subaru may have changed my mind - never thought I'd be an SUV type person. 0
Uneventful drive to the Yoedler where we checked in. The room we initially got was not what we had expected, so we asked to change. We were really spoiled the last time we were here and thought all rooms would be the same. Nope. Upstairs King room had the balcony and two entrances (front and back door), but it did not have the kitchen or the hallway into the bathroom like our last room (more of an apartment than a hotel room). The staff was more than willing to change our room and we ended up with the exact room we had last time! Welcome home!! Sawtooth the Cat is still here and made us feel very welcomed also.
We then went up to the Mountain for the Winter Carnival. And we were not disappointed! Funny story, there was a little girl in a wheel chair and her parents were struggling to get her up the slope close to the chair lift so I helped out. The poor little girl had broken her leg a week before getting off the chair lift. Of course that's not the funny part. The funny part was Kevin mentioning to me later "Did you see that little handicapped girl in the wheel chair? Her parents should be ashamed of themselves for bringing her here to see something that she will never be able to do!!" After I told him what her situation was, he felt much better.
Rush to the car to beat the crowd back to to town and back to the room, ordered pizza in, downloaded photos, and went to bed.
Here are some of my photos from yesterday. The "parade" coming down the Red Lodge Mountain are not very good due to the high ISO, but I wanted you to be able to see the progression of these people on skis and snow boards coming down the mountain in the dark with their torches - and then the fireworks! WOW! All the dogs, music, people, costumes (Star Wars theme), kids, snow, fireworks, etc. Just fantastic! I think I would like to make this a birthday tradition........hint hint Kevin. :)
