Woke up early strolled across the street to the Mexican restaurant's parking lot at 4am to use their wifi. While looking at google maps I realized we were staying at an old roadside hotel on "Lincoln Hwy". The night before we were on Route 66 "The Mother Road". Dumb luck we were riding on two competing highways of the pre-interstate era within two days. So westward we went on the "Lincoln Highway". Stephanie riding along side the freight trains getting the engineers to blow their horn and waving to them all. All seemed orderly following the old road through the many little towns.... then Don Quixote (aka Stephanie) saw the windmills.... hundreds of them. I heard her yell BATTLE!! Then turn here, no turn there, quick there is one over there..... we were lost and didn't care. GREAT DAY!
Stephanie and Kevin's 1st BIG road trip since buying the Victory Touring bikes. Our goal is just going West. With 3 weeks to kill while taking only back roads and photographing along the way. Hoping to find some true Americana. Camping at parks or staying at old roadside motor inns where we can and dinning in mom and pop diners. The way many travelers before us saw America. Good Bye highway, so long Holiday Inn Express, and no more Cracker Barrels.... Hello America here we come!
