"Yes we can hike up to the tower. No we can't go inside the tower its solid rock. I know in the movie it was hollow but there was also aliens and a spaceship."
Then we were off and after a huge breakfast in Hulett, Wy we were on our way headed north to pick up Hwy 212. The sign said road construction motorcyclists turn around find different route. Different route in this area would be hundreds of miles. Rough roads, possible slippery muddy roads. Well the road was dry and what's the worse some gravel or a bump or two... ha no problem just follow their escort car, we are tough! Okay they didn't list all the possible problems on the sign for the next 8 miles. They were completely rebuilding the road. Rough, rutted, potholed, loose dirt, they did smooth the ditches we were riding. At times we would drive diagonally across the road to ride the ditch on the other side of the road. I think we were the first motorcycles to attempt this ride because the workers would stop what they were doing and cheer us on..... LOL! I want to give Stephanie a huge atta girl, she handle an over loaded top heavy touring bike like it was toy and we made it through without a single problem. After the construction the road was great. Follow that up into Montana and pick up Hwy 212 and followed it for hundreds of miles. Stopped along the way to see Little Big Horn, then off to Red Lodge. Great little town at the edge of the park with plenty of restaurants and saloons. The town has the nicest Police Chief you will ever meet, more like an ambassador than a law enforcement officer, great guy. From here the Hwy 212 is known as Bear Tooth Highway and Yellowstone awaits us at the other end.
