Day 5 Murdo, SD to Mt Rushmore, SD- Kevin

Started the morning with a great little mom &  pop restaurant  Star Restaurant. Headed west following Hwy 16 in dense fog all the way to Badlands NP. But before entering the park there was a tourist trap, thank goodness Stephanie is repulsed by such places. Well there are exceptions... cute furry animals running loose. We stopped for Prairie Dog Town where Stephanie got to feed the little rodents. She was happy. Sadly the fog lifted but heavy cloud cover prevented any dynamic photos of Badlands.... but the WOW factor will always be etched in my mind. Leaving there we went to the biggest tourist trap in all of South Dakota... Wall Drugs. It was overload even for me a tourist trap junkie. We took the obligatory photos and had  some actually good chili dogs. Then our great escape was foiled, after consulting and cussing Garmin  we were stuck again! No way out except back through the Badlands or I-90 again. I gained another demerit mark for my second navigational error putting us back on the interstate, one more and she is taking the GPS away. Really South Dakota can't you build some secondary roads? Now here a few miles from Mt Rushmore we found some cabins to rent and none too soon, it started raining after unloading the bikes. Maybe tomorrow we will escape this beautiful maze of a state, but for now enjoying every minute.
