Day started slow with us watching the sky that only yielded a drops of rain throughout the day. We found the Lewis and Clark Tail and followed it along the Missouri River. At Pierre, SD the trail went north we went south. Wanting to see Ft Pierre National Grass Land ???. .... 50 miles of heavy crosswinds blowing across the Prairie and with just more farms. Okay, not what we were expecting. Then the road crossed I-90 greeting us with a sign stating the road was turning into gravel for the next 21 miles. Options: 1- return through the wind blasted prairie. 2- break our rule of no interstates. Rules were made to be broken. Stephanie quickly spotted an old billboard for Sioux Motel. It turned out to be a great mom and pop place and across the street was a car museum and a saloon The Rusty Spur for nightcaps. Perfect!
