Day 4 - Stephanie

Sitting in The Rusty Saloon with Kevin having a night cap after putting 353 miles on today.  Time on bikes was 7 hours and 23 minutes.  Temperature starting out this morning was 56 and it made it up to 76.  From tank tops to leathers.
We rode the Lewis and Clark trail following the Missouri River into Pierre, SD.  The thousand of acres of sun flowers was amazing! I told Kevin I could move out there and be a sun flower farmer, it was that beautiful.
After dinner in Pierre we jumped on 83 and thought it would be neat to drive through The Grasslands.  NOT!  Super boring!  It was just like driving through 50-60 miles of hay fields that needed to be cut.  Zzzzzzz.
Today we were able to pick up on our "Guess the Population" game.  (Iowa was a bust since they don't list population on their signs.). The object of the game is to guess the Population of the upcoming town before the sign that gives the answer.  We base our answers on number of water towers visible, if any , etc.  So far I'm winning 3 to 1 with hitting the number dead on.  Another game is "Name That Poop" based on smell before we get to the source.  Again, I'm winning since I was able to identify chicken, cow, and pig poop - in one sniff.  Not so sure that's a positive thing......
After dead ending on 83 to a gravel road of 21 miles, and turning back around, we hit I90 (rule breaker) and found another mom and pop motel in Murdo, SD.  We wanted to camp tonight but no luck on campgrounds with a shower house, which is a must.  Hopefully tomorrow!  Perfect camping weather!
Tomorrow going through Sturgis and hitting Mt. Rushmore. Then, who knows!  Until tomorrow!
