Day 6 Mt Rushmore, SD to Devil's Tower, WY - Kevin

Great start of the day with the 2 terrors of squirrels running across the roof of the cabin to wake us up. Headed out and saw the presidents from the road and took some pics and kept riding. Rode the Needles Hwy through Custer State Park and ended up in Custer, SD. Stephanie spotted a food truck selling authentic Mexican food and we stopped for some breakfast burritos. Thankfully they were great and didn't come back to haunt us later. Took the opportunity to do some quick repairs to the bikes and we were off to Sturgis. Sturgis what a bunch  wasted space. About a third of the place was shuttered buildings that apparently only come to life once a year for the rally. Checked out the Indian dealership and fell in love with several bikes. The manager gave a route to Devil's Tower and off we went. Stopped in the last town we thought might have decent food and we found a nice coffee shop that had great sandwiches. Left there and headed to Devil's tower about 70 miles away. About 18 miles from the park we saw a pull off where we could take some pics of the tower in the distance. We were  ecstatic finally out of South Dakota and into Wyoming and blue skies ahead.
PANIC!!!!!  CALL 911!! Call the National Guard!!!
MY PRECIOUS WAS GONE!!!
My cell phone was missing, rummaging through every bag and compartment of the bike, it was GONE!!!
Stephanie called the coffee shop and someone found the phone and turn it in to them. Then every Italians nightmare... Just when I thought I was out. They pull me back in.... Back into South Dakota I was headed, I sent Stephanie on to find a campground while I was heading back to the coffee shop. I took this opportunity to let the Vic stretch her legs, nothing between me and SD but blue skies and rolling hills. Comfortably cruising at 90 mph down a 2 lane road I came upon the largest herd of deer I have ever seen ( they were still there on my return trip I stopped to see them and they ran but I was able to count 34 of them). So I backed the throttle down I drove somewhat sensibly there and back. Back at the campsite under the Devil's Tower using my recovered precious as a hot spot sipping wine and eating brownies.... another perfect day. Now off to take star pics with the Devil's Tower.
