Day 11 Going To The Sun Road over and back - Kevin

Today we unloaded  from the bikes and went riding. The big Vics felt like sport bikes once emptied. Headed into Glacier under heavy clouds and strong wind gusts we were greeted with 9 miles of road construction. Poor bikes had 9 miles of watered down gravel and mud roads to trudge through and they are the dirtiest they have ever been. But as the construction ended the wind died down and the sun began to shine through, perfect. The road to Logan's Pass was beautiful. The road is pretty much a chiseled flat spot off the steep walls of the mountains giving amazing views and the urge not to go over the side. If you were to go over the meager, if any retaining wall it would have been a long trip to the bottom. Learned a valuable lesson about photography, take both lenses every time. Stopped to shoot a waterfall, grabbed my wide angle and tripod.Hiked down to the stream and stepped out on a rock looking at the waterfall and turned to look across the stream. A black bear posing on a huge boulder directly across from me... snap snap... wrong lens!!.... run back for the telephoto. Once back he was no longer on the boulder but walking down stream. DOPE!!!  Still got some good pics but I would love to have had him posing on that boulder. Got back and rode over to Many Glaciers. Shot some pics of a waterfall and checked out the hotel.... WOW! Right out of the Alps and the bellboy was even wearing lederhosen pants, pics to come later. Great day fun ride amazing sights, it rivals Yellowstone.
